Initial negotiator and one of the signatories to the Parking Meter contract between Smart City Solutions (SCS) and the Mayor and City Council (M&CC), Ifa Kamau Cush has resigned from SCS as Director.

According to a statement from the Company, the company’s Board of Directors on Valentine’s Day (Tuesday, February 14, 2017) have “required and…accepted the resignation of Ifagbamila Kamau Cush from his position of a Director of Smart City Solutions Inc.”

Cush has been the subject of controversy over recent weeks following his attack on protesters against the project, via facebook posts and comments.

The company in its Wednesday evening statement noted that while Cush was involved with the introduction of SCS to the metered parking project, he has for several months, not been involved in any operational capacity of the project or the company. However, it must be noted that Cush is one of the signatories to the contract between the company and the M&CC.

SCS also confirmed that this is as a direct result of the former Director’s posts on facebook which the company previously distanced itself from, noting that this was “completely unacceptable” and “disgraceful” and which still endorsed by Cush following the company’s disapproval.

In several facebook posts recently, Cush attacked persons who are part of the Movement Against Parking Meters. In his comments, Cush referred to the protestors as “freeloaders” among other things which many persons took offense to.

“You’re not progressives, You are freeloaders. You lack the intestinal fortitude to control your own destiny. You all possess the mentality of slaves, indentured servants, incapable of generating wealth and building capacity” Cush said in one of his many ramblings.

Over 100 protesters turned out on Thursday (February 09, 2017) to support the movement against the project, calling for a total revocation of the contract.

Though after several meetings the rates for parking in the city was reduced, the movement will again on Thursday (February 16, 2017) return to the picket line calling for the revocation of the project which lacks transparency.
