Berbice police caution children about safety during kite flying

The administration of the Felix Austin Police College at Adventure, Corentyne, Berbice, recently donated several kites to members of a newly formed youth group which spans across three communities in the region.

It was during the distribution of the kites that the Assistant Superintendent, Antonio Fredericks urged the young people to stay safe during the holidays as they engage in their kite flying activities. They were urged to stay away from areas where live power cables are, as well as in close proximity to major roadways.

“I want you guys to be safe during kite flying; you have open centre grounds and the foreshores, use them. Do not fly kites net to GPL wires because you stand the risks of putting your lives in danger” the officer urged.

The distribution was done with the assistance of Police Corporals, Dexter Brandt and Nykofi Austin as well as female Constable, Marcia Bagot.

On Saturday, April 29, 2017, the College will be holding its second annual Bar-B-Que and sports fun day for the young people in ‘B’ Division.

The funds garnered from the activity, will go towards the programs that the police run in the division to benefit the various youth groups.
