The University of Guyana and MovieTowne Inc have signed to MOUs paving the way for the development of a solar farm project and the construction of student housing complex at the Turkeyen Campus.

The proposed solar farm project will allow the University and MovieTowne to collaborate on the design, structure, financing and management of it.

This project according to the University also holds the possibility of energy efficient solutions for both entities with students and faculty being afforded the opportunity of training and hands-on experience with renewable energy and energy efficient technologies.

In addition, the agreement allows for collaboration with third parties on technical and curricular aspects.

Meanwhile, the second MOU which was signed with DaChin Inc. covers the construction of a 150 room complex dedicated to student accommodation. It is hoped that similar possibilities would be extended to the Tain campus.

According to Professor Ivelaw Griffith, his vision is to move UG from its current place into its renaissance and this he says requires finding new opportunities.

The agreements were signed by Professor Griffith and Derek Chin, the Director of DaChin Inc and MovieTowne Inc.
