Two years into the APNU/AFC coalition government’s five year term in office the People’s Progressive Party/Civic has declared the Government to be having a crisis of credibility.

According to senior party member and Parliamentarian, Bishop Juan Edghill, at a press conference on Thursday (May 11, 2017), public trust is destroyed. Edghill says this destruction came as a result of lack of transparency and accountability from the Government.

According to the opposition party the number of scandals keeps growing and it is time for the Government and its officials to do their jobs properly or go home.

Turning to the Health Sector, the PPP says the administration’s process of awarding contracts for the procurement of drugs and medical has raised many questions; some of which were answered in the National Assembly and many which remain unanswered.

In recent times, Government would have awarded billions of dollars in contracts for the procurement of drugs without going to public tender.

However, despite billions being spent to procure drugs and supplies there continues to be complaints of shortages at major hospitals, as was confirmed by the Parliamentary Committee on social services when it visited these facilitates.

To this end the Opposition party has vowed to up its game in its fight for transparency and accountability and keep the Government’s feet to the fire.
