Qualfon Guyana today (Wednesday, June 07, 2017) officially introduced the extension of the Providence Campus with the view of employing more Guyanese.

The Campus Extension adds another 55,000 square feet of eco-friendly space and 992 agent workstations to the existing Providence Operation and signifies an additional five million US dollar investment for Qualfon in Guyana.

These facts were related to the attendees of a special ceremony hosted to open the extension officially.

According to Vice President of Operations in Guyana, Richard Brinson, the expansion will also feature an interfaith chapel and a healthcare clinic but added to this it will provide jobs for 2200 more persons during the double shift.

However, he says Wednesday’s achievement would not have been possible without the staff, and for this he is grateful.

Also giving a nod of appreciation to the staff was CEO, Mike Marrow who reflected on the 13 years and the achievements of Qualfon in Guyana.

Going forward he says the plan is to create employment for 6000 Guyanese, but his dream is to make it to 30, 000.

Delivering the acknowledgement at the ceremony was Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin, who pledged Government’s continued support to the company.

The keynote address was given by Kirk Laughlin, the Founder of Nearshore Americas. Mr Laughlin believes Guyana unique position and language gives the country an advantage to dominate on the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) Market.

He quoted St. Lucian poet, Derek Walcott and how he viewed English language and its rightful heirs and customer service centres and Guyana.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Telecommunications, Cathy Hughes in addition to delivering the President’s regards said Government remains confident in Qualfon and has reassured that when the plans to improve ICT come to fruition, it would not only mean good things for Guyana but also businesses like theirs in the immediate future.
