    Clifton Hicken, Patrick West, Gladwin Samuels, Dr. Raphael Massiah and Troy Cadogan, Allister Collins, Astel Collins and Sean Sobers were among the participants who were named as local Peace Ambassadors and presented with awards, for making tremendous strides and meaningful differences in their respective areas of work.

    The Golden Rule Awards were handed to them by President and Founder of iChange Nations International, Dr. Clyde Rivers at the Umana Yana in Georgetown earlier this week.

    The iChange Nations is a reputable internationally recognised organisation which identifies individuals for outstanding works in their respective countries and areas of service.

    Influential Motivational Speaker, Dr. Astell Collins receiving his award

    In addition to the presentation of certificates for the above mentioned persons and others, Influential Motivational Speaker, Dr. Astell Collins, who had some time ago received his Golden Rule Award, was on Monday night (June 12, 2017) singled out by Dr. Rivers and presented with the World Civility Ambassadorship and Challenged Champion, and Hero’s Award.

    Assistant Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken has been serving the Guyana Police Force for more than two decades and of recent, began working with hundreds of young people in underprivileged communities.

    Guyana Defence Force’s Chief of Staff, Patrick West in receiving his award was identified as someone who has displayed immense tolerance, affection and respect for people who he comes into contact with.

    Director of Prisons, Gladwin Samuel’s efforts to ensure that inmates of the Georgetown Prisons were exposed to capacity and leadership seminars did not go unnoticed, and those efforts were among others which saw him being nominated for the award.

    Reverend Raphael Massiah’s leadership and ability to use the gospel as a tool of bringing people together, thus fostering peace, was among the reasons he was also awarded.

    Allister Collins has been identified as someone who embodies the very meaning of what the award represents and his transferring of those values in his work with the President Youth Award Republic of Guyana (PYARG) programme which reaches hundreds of young people across the country.

    Delivered from the biblical term “Do unto others as you would like them do onto you”, the Golden Rule Award presentations to the recipients on Monday was the first of its kind in South America and also marked the beginning of an annual feature.

    The iChange Nations Organisation promotes the honoring of individuals and recognising them worldwide for their exemplified, extraordinary humanitarian efforts.
