Hero CPL 2017 officially touched Guyana’s soil on Friday with the opening of the Ticketing Office and Guyana Amazon Warriors merchandising shop at Camp and Quamina Streets in the capital Georgetown.

They say the early bird catches the worm and some patrons wasted little time in getting to the Ticket Office to get hold of their tickets for the four games in Guyana during August 17-22. With no limit on the number of tickets a single person can purchase, fans took full advantage, buying in bulk and of course selecting their desired seats.

Guyana Amazon Warriors Team Operations Manager, Omar Khan, told media operatives that preparation for the hosting of the games in Guyana is in full swing, and all systems are in place for a successful leg in the ‘Land of Many Waters’.

“We want to give you the assurance and the media to know that Guyana is considered a role model in terms of staging CPL matches throughout the Caribbean. At the start of this year we had a number of meetings with CPL Central where they took our operations as a model for all the other venues in terms of franchise operations and in terms of hosting CPL games,” Khan highlighted.

Apart from tickets, Guyana Amazon Warriors paraphernalia are also on sales at the Ticket Office and Khan is urging patrons to get their pieces of branded memorabilia early. Available are Guyana Amazon Warriors complete outfits, caps, key-rings, cups, bats, balls, coins, fans, flags, haversacks and cricket equipment.

Guyana Amazon Warrors are set to play four home games, the first of which is against Jamaica Tallawahs on August 17 at 18:00h; followed by Trinbago Knights at noon on August 19; Barbados Tridents at 18:00h on August 20; and St Lucia Stars at 18:00h on August 22.

Khan, meanwhile, pointed out that the Guyana Amazon Warriors players will start to assemble in the new week for the preparatory camp as they seek to go one step further and win the competition after finishing runners-up three times in four years.

“Guyana Amazon Warriors team will gather from next week; from Tuesday the 25th (July) when all the players will start arriving, when we will have a pre-tournament preparation camp, which will start from the Wednesday (July 26). The camp will include some practice games,” Khan pointed out.

Apart from the on-field action, the Guyana Amazon Warriors will also be involved in several promotional activities during their stay for the Guyana leg of the tournament.

“We will also be doing some good community work…we will be visiting a home, we will be doing some work with Digicel, we will be doing some with GTT…so we are fulfilling our corporate social responsibility,” Khan remarked.

Hero CPL 2017 will run from August 4 to September 9. It will once again feature six franchises, namely Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Lucia Stars, St Kitts Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders. Matches will be held across the Caribbean and in Florida.
