Since ancient times, mankind has been experimenting with varying methods to bring the exquisiteness of one’s lashes to the fore. The situation is no different today. In fact, one of the most sought after beauty trends is “eyelash extension.”

One of the women taking the lead in this regard is Guyana’s very own, Latoya Zephyr. This beautician is the proud owner of “Professional Hands, Massage Parlour and Beauty Shop”. It is located at Palace de Leon Hotel on Croal Street Georgetown. She offers services which include facials, massages, pedicures and manicures and of course eyelash extensions, at her beauty sanctuary.

This charming entrepreneur grew up in Buxton, East Coast Demerara and is still residing there with her family. By the age of 18, Zephyr was already sure about what she wanted to do career wise. And that was, to become to become one of Guyana’s most respected and professional beauticians.

This artistic belle has since dedicated her energies towards becoming the best in the business. She is already one of the leading ladies in the local beauty world.

Zephyr shared that her goals for the future include her interest to expand in the field that she is currently in. She said, “I have seen quite a few areas that need perfecting in our country and I would like to be the one to be able to offer a certain level of service and products that people might not have access to.”

Her favourite part of her work according to her is, “customer satisfaction”. In this regard, she asserted, “I would put one hundred and ten percent into what I do and I also take my time with every task. I always treat my client as best as I can so as to ensure they are comfortable and satisfied. It is important to me that they are pleased with the service they receive.”

This energetic young woman said that she gets her motivation from her encouraging mother and two best friends who have been entirely supportive of her work. She said that every time she feels as though she is not doing enough or she is having a bad day, they would always give her the most positive responses and advice.

Zephyr related to the News Room that some of the latest beauty trends that are being offered are eyebrow tinting and individual eyelash extensions. She explained that eyebrow tinting involved the application of a liquid form of eye pencil that stays on for a couple of weeks. She said that this way, your brows are always on “fleek”.

Her advice to other budding entrepreneurs out there is, “whatever it is that you are planning to do, give it your best, do not go halfway, and always make sure that the customer is completely satisfied with what you have provided. Treat them like you would your family.”

Zephyr’s calming yet chic beauty shop opens from 10:00 am to 6:00pm from Monday to Saturday. The beautician related that every service and or product is available at very affordable prices.

This ambitious young woman said, too, that while she works by appointment, she is open to welcome walk in customers. She noted however that she prefers to deal with her customers via appointment so as to not keep anyone waiting.
