Temp. arrivals terminal constructed at CJIA

The Management of Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation (CJIAC) is currently undertaking a massive expansion project that when completed will facilitate increased airlift and passenger flow.

However, for this project to move ahead without major disruptions to the Corporation’s daily operations, a Temporary Arrivals Terminal Building was constructed, a release from the airport noted.

“It is fully functional with all of the required facilities and agencies of an international airport,” the release noted.

According to the CJIA, the airport management is working assiduously to make passengers comfortable as possible under the circumstances since its holds both arriving and departing passengers’ experience with the highest regard.

For the month of July 2017, 30,022 passengers were processed in the Temporary Building compared to 29,435 in 2016, which represented a two percent increase. Meanwhile, 160,776 passengers arrived through CJIAC from January to July 2017 in comparison to 150,445 for the same period in 2016.

Meanwhile, to alleviate any discomfort during the peak hours, CJIAC is working with its stakeholders to continuously improve the operations in the Temporary Building until the new Arrivals Building is completed.

“Management therefore appeals for the understanding of passengers and undertakes to ensure that any discomfort experienced will be minimal. Passengers experience is of utmost importance to us and we take our commitment seriously.”
