Regan Rodrigues called ‘Grey Boy’ was once again hauled before the courts this morning, this time for using threatening language against the mother of slain political activist, Courtney Crum Ewing.

As Donna Harcourt arrived at Court this morning, she proceeded to taunt Rodrigues who was in the lock ups; he responded by saying that he is being victimized.

“I can’t live in peace since ah see cause they always harassing me,” he said.

Rodrigues appeared before City Magistrate Dylon Bess and was released on $10,000 bail after denying the charge. Particulars of the offense alleged that Rodrigues on August 12, 2017 at Regent and Wellington Streets, he made used of threatening language towards Donna Hardcort.

    Dead: Courtney Crum-Ewing

The 40-year-old unrepresented man of Riverview, Ruimveldt Georgetown, told the court that the woman and her family have been victimizing and provoking him since he was freed of her son’s murder.

Rodrigues further stressed that life has been hard for him after being freed since, he is unable to get a job; he accused the complainant of slandering his name in the public. With no objection raised by the prosecutor, Christopher Morris, the Magistrate released Rodrigues, on $10,000 bail and adjourned the matter until September 18, 2017.

Earlier before the court hearing, Crum-Ewing’s mother was standing on the stairway, reportedly taunting Rodrigues, who was in the prisoner lockup. There was an exchange of words between the two parties causing police to remove the woman. Crum-Ewing was shot dead in 2015 after he was attacked from behind by men in a car, as he walked along a street in Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara. At the time, the man was using a bullhorn, calling on persons to come out and vote at the General and Regional Elections which was held that May.

Rodrigues was charged with the murder of Crum-Ewing after the gun used to commit the murder was found at his home. However, on September 14, 2016, the charge was dismissed following a no-case submission which was filed by his lawyer, Adrian Thompson. Magistrate Latchman, who presided over the case, had noted that while she was satisfied that the gun was found at the home of the accused, the evidence provided by the prosecution did not implicate Rodrigues in the actual murder.

On March 17, 2017, the Director of Public Prosecution ordered that the investigation be re-opened. A statement from the DPP Office at the time noted that the sole purpose of this remit is to take further evidence from police witnesses and to rule on the voluntariness of all oral statements of the accused.

On April 14, 2017, Grey Boy was picked up from the home of a relative in Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown. The following month—June, he was once again freed of Crum Ewing’s murder.
