Trans Guyana Airways can now resume shuttling operations as the suspension has been officially lifted from that airline by the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

Following the suspension, Trans Guyana was the first operator to submit all the necessary documents for review and the inspectors have already conducted all requisite checks. The domestic airline had successfully completed the five-phase process used by the GCAA which entails: Pre-application phase, application phase, document evaluation, demonstration and inspection and certification.

According to a statement from GCAA, on September 2, 2017, a Flight Operations Inspector from the authority worked all day aboard Trans Guyana Airways flight conducting demonstration inspections to ensure documented procedures were observed by the operator. Inspections were conducted on flight operations into Olive Creek, Blake Slater and Kamarang aerodromes.

The Authority said it continues to work with the other domestic operators to have their shuttle operations approved so that they can resume shuttling operations. In addition to approving manuals for shuttling operations, the Authority is also considering other measures to enhance safety for flight operations within the hinterland region.

Actions taken by the Authority followed three aircraft accidents which claimed the lives of two pilots in just over a month.

The GCAA reiterated that the actions taken were necessary to enhance safety of the travelling public and aviation personnel and promised to continue its increased surveillance of Air Operators.
