Ogle residents fear disaster as GPL pole rots

A utility pole belonging to the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Inc., located on the Ogle Masjid Road, has been rapidly deteriorating and residents are crying for immediate intervention.

Residents who spoke to the News Room related that the pole has been rotten since the beginning of the year and all calls to GPL for assistance have proven to be futile.

“We called and they keep saying they will send someone but like nobody ain’t coming to look at this thing,” one resident vented.

Residents are extremely worried that the utility pole will collapse and cause major damages to nearby houses, vehicles or even injure someone.

“It’s a calamity waiting to happen!” another resident expressed.

The frustrated residents have resorted to strapping a piece of canvas around the pole with the hopes of prolonging the time before it gets uprooted.

Residents are urging GPL or any other authority to urgently address the situation as they are extremely fearful that disaster may strike.
