The Jamaicans made their presence felt, copping eight podium finishes, but the shocker of the night was the unbeaten record of Kristian Jeffrey at GT Motorsports’ Georgetown Grand Prix coming to an end owing to an unfortunate mishap.

After coasting to an opening win in the first 125cc Senior race of the ‘Caribbean Showdown’ event, Jeffrey seemed in ominous form and another clean sweep of his category appeared inevitable. However, the drama unfolded in race two, which was a reverse grid with Jeffrey starting in fifth.

The two-time Caribbean Group Four champion, participating in this category for the first time, had gradually worked his way up to third and was challenging for the top spot when another driver got into contact with him, resulting in him spinning, a rare sight for the #261 driver.

Although he managed to recover and continue racing, the time was short to mount any serious challenge for a podium position, much less the top spot. He eventually finished fifth with Matthew Phang taking top honours.

It was the first time Jeffrey failed to make the podium at the Georgetown Grand Prix, after winning all six of his previous races in the Shifter Pro Cup.

Jeffrey however, returned with a bang in the final race of the night, distancing himself from the competition and winning in his usual dominant fashion. He was voted champion driver.

Meanwhile, for his two wins and a second place finish, Jeremy Tenpow was voted Champion driver of the 60cc Sun Burst Kids Cup, while Jamaica’s Senna Summerbell with a first, a second and a third copped the award in the 125cc Junior.

With two victories and a third place finish, the consistent Raymond Baksh lifted the Champion driver in the Easy Cup Rookie, while Raymond Seebarran was unstoppable in the Easy Cup Heavy and Light, copping the Champion driver accolade in both.

The evening’s action was sponsored by Sun Burst Juices, Rent-A-Tent, Fly Jamaica, Stag Beer, Monster Energy Drink, Exxon Mobil, Hand-in-Hand Insurance, Readymix Concrete, Scotiabank, Cloud 9, Optique Vision Care, Toucan Industries, Ticket Master Travel Agency, E-Networks, King’s Jewellery World, Hero Motor Cycles, Ray’s Motor Spares, Cyril’s Taxi Service, Bounty, Trophy Stall, Prem’s Electrical Store, Impressions, Truck Masters, Windjammer, Super Bet, The Track Bar, Ocean Spray Hotel, Secure Innovation and Concept, Clear Waters, Marics, Rid-O-Pest and Karcher.

Below are the top three finishers in each category. (Positions are listed 1-2-3).
