    The government has launched an inquiry into the river accident involving one of the ‘David G’ boats used to transport school children in riverain areas.

    Minister of StateJoseph Harmon Monday swore in Colonel (Retired) Windee Algernon as Chairman of the Board of Inquiry (BOI).

    She will probe the circumstances surrounding the accident, involving a ‘David G’ boat in the vicinity of River’s View, Cuyuni- Mazaruni (Region Seven) on March 14, 2018, in which four persons were injured.

    Injured in the boat accident were 14-year-old are Lola Thornhill, Cleveloyd Edmonds, 15; ShenieleMaschette, 16 – all of the Bartica Secondary School and 21-year-old boat captain, Akiem Williams.

    The injured were air-dashed to the city after the accident.

    Following a visit to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the GPHC, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment, President Granger had promised a full investigation.

    Additionally, he committed to providing the necessary assistance to aid the recovery process of the injured persons.
