A 42-year-old businessman was on Monday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on a drug trafficking charge.

Gavin Blackman, the owner of Glow Again Boutique, denied that on May 4 at Lot 2 Norton Street, Georgetown, he had 1.1 kilograms of cocaine his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

His attorney, James Bond, applied for bail and told the court that the cocaine was not found in the possession of his client.

But Police Prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield, informed that Blackman has been under the surveillance of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit for a while now.

The Prosecutor said that the accused was seen picking up a white parcel and taking it to Lot 2 Norton Street in his motorcar; CANU ranks gave chase as he was walking into the yard when it is alleged that Blackman ran up the steps and threw the parcel inside the house.

The parcel was retrieved and the suspected drugs were found inside. Bail was refused and he was remanded to prison until June 7, 2018.
