A 43-year-old miner was on Monday sentenced to serve 18 months imprisonment for beating his reputed wife with a rolling pin.

Collin Millington appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where he admitted that on May 5, 2018, at Austin Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, he unlawfully wounded the woman.

Prosecutor, Arwin Moore told the Court that Millington is known to assault his wife whenever he is annoyed or upset.

According to reports, on the day in question, Fernandes was in the kitchen preparing breakfast when Millington picked up a rolling pin and dealt her several lashes about her body.

The woman became fearful and reported the matter to the police. The Court heard that upon his arrest, Millington told the police, “She should have get more.”

The unrepresented man told the court that he committed the act after he found out about an affair.

“I never knocked my wife before but it get overbearing,” Millington told the Court.
