    The Hindu Parishad Seva Group of the Guyana Pandits’ Council has completed yet another successful Medical Outreach at the Saraswati Upkaric Mandir in Sister’s Village, West Bank Demerara on Sunday last.

    A release from the group noted that the free outreach, which targeted residents of Sister’s Village and its neighbouring villages, attracted over 210 persons from different religions and ethnicities.

    Among those were infants, senior citizens, and those affected by the recent closure of the Wales Sugar Estate. Patients were seen by Doctors Anila Ramphal, Varun Budhram, Carl Niamatali, Ramdeo Jainarine and Kissoon, along with a team of Optometrists.

    The release noted that they benefited from a host of services including testing for blood sugar, hypertension and visual.

    “Additionally, prescription drugs were administered as required, suicide handouts were circulated and 100 food hampers were distributed to needy persons, single parents and senior citizens,” the release noted.

    Spearheaded by the Head of the Guyana Pandits’ Council, Pandit Rudranauth Sharma, the Medical Outreach is a monthly initiative conducted by the Council.

    According to the release, in the last four years, the organization has conducted numerous of these Outreaches across the country to the benefit of over 4,000 persons, while breaking racial, social and cultural barriers.
