The 15-year-old champion cyclist from Rose Hall, Berbice who was earlier this year diagnosed with a brain tumor is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

Beyonce Ross had a seizure late Thursday night and she was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital for medical treatment. She has since been transferred to the GPHC where she is said to be in an unconscious state and on life support.

Her mother, Yonette Clarke told News Room that doctors said the young lady is in a critical state. Clarke said this is the worst her daughter has been since she fell ill five months ago.

Ross, who won three gold medals at the National School Cycling Championships in October 2017, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2018.

In February 2018, the teenager of Lower Corentyne Secondary started to experience severe migraine and vomiting, but doctors initially treated her for a stomach virus.

After she was diagnosed with a brain tumor a month later, Ross became bedridden and was unable to perform simple tasks like walking, sitting upright and even eating by herself.

The tumor is located at a critical point, in the center of the brain and doctors advised the family that the surgery to remove it is high-risked and cannot be performed locally. (Devina Samaroo)
