KFC (Guyana) is contributing to a nationwide initiative against suicide and abuse led by Caribbean Voice, a Non-Government Organisation.

The KFC donation will particularly go towards training persons in various communities “to proactively and preemptively act on mental health issues,” the company said.

The Caribbean Voice needs to raise G$6.4 million to facilitate a highly experienced and credentialed trainer, whose service is offered free of cost for one year via the NGO Seva International based in India.

Mr. Hussain the National Coordinating Director for the Caribbean Voice and Ms. Livasti Bhooplall Guyana’s Marketing Manager for KFC.

Nazim Hussain, the National Coordinator of the Caribbean voice spoke with the local Marketing Manager Manager of KFC, Livasti Bhooplall, who stated that KFC is very proud to be contributing to the Lay Counselor Initiative and she encouraged corporate Guyana to donate to the cause.

She said what is so great about the upcoming initiative is that the Lay Counselor will be in Guyana for one year and will be spending time in all 10 of the administrative regions.

She noted that Guyana is in critical need of these types of training programs, since the daily news is filled with domestic violence.
