One day after arriving in Guyana, a visiting delegation of US Congressmen met with President David Granger early Thursday, in a move which is said to strengthen relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of the Presidency moments ago released photos on its Facebook Page of the meeting which saw Minister of State Joseph Harmon and Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge in attendance.

US Ambassador to Guyana Perry Holloway was also present at the meeting.

The delegation’s presence in Guyana is currently unclear but Minister Harmon previously told reporters that the US Congressmen, as well as senior military officials, will be here for a familiarisation visit.

This is said to be the largest US delegation to ever visit Guyana and much of their meetings are shrouded in secrecy.

As a matter of fact, the Department of Public Information (DPI) and other media representatives were asked not to publish any photos of the US officials until after 14:00hrs on Thursday.
