The search is on for the next young lady who will represent the ancient county of Berbice with distinction when she competes at the upcoming Miss Berbice/I’m a Big Deal beauty pageant slated for Saturday, November 24 at the Albion Sports Complex Ground.

Royston Drakes Production launched the pageant in 2017 as a way of motivating young girls to take up their place as leaders and role models by being the change they want to see.

The idea grew wings since the Miss Berbice team was able to execute a number of community development projects which benefitted many in the region.

The pageant management is seeking passionate, eloquent, industrious and ambitious Berbician beauties between the ages of 16-26 to compete at this year’s event.

Coordinator of the pageant, Tracey Khan explained that the pageant is one with a difference as was promised since its launch last year and not only focuses on the glitz and glam but building a young woman, who is confident and selfless enough to travel throughout Regions 5 and 6 and Guyana by extension, to bring awareness and change to the social ills facing the country.

The reigning Miss Berbice, Farah Valentina Bates

This pageant gives delegates the opportunity and platform to become an Ambassador for Berbice which they can use to influence change.

This year’s pageant has five segments: Intelligence, Swimwear, Costume, Talent and Evening gown.

Applicants must be unmarried, no children and residing in Berbice.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, August 26 at St Francis Community Developers Main Hall (Alex Foster’s building) in Rose Hall Town from 11:00hrs where a selection panel of diverse young Guyanese will decide who the delegates will be at this year’s pageant.

Young girls between the ages of 16-25 can walk in and audition for the pageant on Sunday. The dress code for potential delegate is a white t-shirt, blue jeans and heels with hair pulled back and light makeup.
