    On Sunday, (September 23, 2018), the Hindu Parishad Seva Group of the Guyana Pandits’ Council completed yet another successful Medical Outreach at the Strathsphey Vishnu Mandir, Strathspey, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

    According to a statement from the religious body, the free outreach, which targeted residents of Strathspey and its neighbouring villages, attracted over 210 persons from different religions and ethnicities.

    Patients were seen by Doctors Anila Ramphal, Rupan Singh, Amanda Tiwari, Kaalesh Ramcharran and Padmini Singh and benefited from a host of services including general checkups and testings for blood sugar and hypertension.

    Additionally, a team of competent pharmacists administered prescription medication as required, suicide handouts were circulated and 100 food hampers, 108 school bags, clothing, toys and books were distributed to needy persons, senior citizens, single parents and children.

    Spearheaded by the Head of the Guyana Pandits’ Council, Pandit Rudranauth Sharma, the Medical Outreach is a monthly initiative conducted by the Council. In the last four years, the organization has conducted numerous of these Outreaches across the country to the benefit of over 4,000 persons, while breaking racial, social and cultural barriers.
