ECD Supermarket caught selling expired goods

The Government Analyst –Food and Drug Department (GA-FDD) has initiated criminal proceedings against the proprietor of a recently established supermarket on the East Coast of Demerara, who was caught repackaging foods under “unsanitary conditions, selling expired foods” and also extending the expiry date on Condensed Milk.


The items were seized and removed from the premises.
“Consumers are again asked to ensure that all items of food have a label, is English Translated and to ensure the dates are closely examined and not altered or tampered with,” the GA-FDD advised.
