Movement of Fly Jamaica wreckage causes cancellation of some flights

Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) has cancelled all flights leaving and arriving at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) amid safety concerns.

When contacted on Sunday evening, Minister of State, Joseph Harmon told News Room that authorities on Sunday attempted to remove the wreckage of the Fly Jamaica aircraft which crash-landed at the airport on November 9, using a balloon to suspend the damaged wing of the aircraft.

However, the management of CAL considered this move by the authorities to be unsafe and subsequently cancelled three flights to and from Guyana.

According to Minister Harmon, CAL is the only airline that expressed concerns about the removal of the wreckage as other airlines are continuing their operations.
