School of the Nations Director, Dr Brian O’Toole says he will be in the hospital for a few more days for gunshot wounds he received at his Bel Air Promenade home Sunday night.

In a statement, Dr O’Toole said three bullets were fired at him but he was struck by two.

“One did minor damage on the right arm and the other was more serious on the left where the bone was badly damaged. I am getting better and will likely be in hospital for a few days,” Dr O’Toole noted in his statement Monday afternoon.

The Director was shot sometime after 9pm Sunday night hours after an emergency meeting at the school with parents and teachers following threats from a student.

It is suspected that the threats are from a sixth form student who was expelled last week after he threatened to “shoot up” the school on social media.

“We are in the process of reflecting again on the security at Nations and we have a meeting of our senior admin today to incorporate some of the suggestions from last night. We thank you most sincerely for so many people coming at short notice and for coming in such a companionate manner,” the Director said in his statement.

Police did not show up to the crime scene until after midnight on Sunday and thus far no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
