The first ever Ambassador from the Republic of Kosovo to Guyana on Wednesday presented her letters of Credence to President David Granger at the Ministry of the Presidency.

Zana Rudi is currently based in Panama where she is serving as resident Ambassador.

Delivering her speech, the Ambassador expressed optimism that her tenure will help the two nations to improve cooperation.

“As we embark on a new phase of our relations with an enhanced level of representation, Kosovo stands ready to work with your Government and hope to find creative ways to further advance economic and political relations within our two countries,” she noted.

Guyana and Kosovo established diplomatic ties on June 13, 2013.

President David Granger in his remarks said the relations are founded on the basis of mutual respect for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, respect for treaties and international law and others.

“We welcome the opportunity for cooperation with Kosovo in the fields of mining and in the sustainable exploitation of natural resources,” he said.

The President noted the efforts being made by the Republic of Kosovo to increase access to finance for micro-, small and medium enterprises.

“We view this as a field in which our two states could exchange experiences as we strengthen our bilateral relations,” he added.
