    Da Saliva’s Optical has recognized the need for access to quality eye care across the country and as such, officially opened a new branch to cater to residents in Port Mourant, East Berbice Corentyne Region Six.

    This is the company’s fifth branch countrywide.

    Dr Shannon Da Silva, co-owner and Optometrist at the opening ceremony on Saturday said that Da Silva’s Optical remains committed to providing eye services to out-of-reach communities.

    “Our reverence for eyes derives us to provide the highest quality vision care in each of our optical across the country,” Dr Da Silva said.

    Da Silva’s has been serving Guyana for over 20 years.

    “At Da Saliva’s Optical we pride ourselves in our level of service and clinical standards, so when you visit the optical we hope you will know, you’re in safe hands,” Dr Da Silva said at the opening ceremony.

    Persons in Region Six will benefit from comprehensive eye examinations and customized prescription glasses in three days or less.

    “This branch here in Port Mourant will introduce your community to a registered refractionist with the Caribbean Council for the Blind, who has worked in both public and private sectors for over a decade,” according to Dr Da Silva.

    The Optometrist wants to follow her father, Dr Phillip Da Silva’s footsteps to deliver quality service to residents.

    “Da Silva’s Optical continually invests in technology to provide care for your eyes, customize your prescription and help select the right frame for you.”

    Da Silva’s Optical and the Ministry of Public Health are also working together to transform the country’s eye health services.

    This partnership is aimed at helping to educate people about eye health and to raise awareness in eye care.

    “At Da Silva’s Optical we believe vision care is about far more than a pair of glasses or prescription, eyes are our windows to the world, captures memories and immersing us in moments. Vision is a precious gift that we are passionate about involving in every way.”

    Regional Chairman, David Armogan the service that will benefit persons in Regions Six because eye care and vision is very important.

    The Regional Chairman said the services will minimize the time in getting spectacles and will also reduce expenses.

    “Sometimes we in this region have to wait two weeks or sometimes more than that for our spectacles because most of the people that operate here, do not operate on a full time basis they will come on weekends and come back in the next fortnight, so it’s a good service and you don’t have to pay high levels of transportation to go to Georgetown as well,” the Regional Chairman said.

    Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Dharamkumar Seeraj commended Da Silva’s Optical for not only providing eye care services but also employment opportunities to the people of Region Six.
