A 34-year-old father of three young children was electrocuted at about 13:30hrs during a family outing at a farm on Monday at Coverden, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Dead is Orlando Ramnarine, a carpenter of Sarah Johanna EBD. The man’s wife, 22-year-old Aronva Parmanand is in a state of confusion and is still in shock over the incident.

She told the News Room Tuesday during an interview that her husband was the sole breadwinner of the family.

The couple lived in a rented house in the community but now Aronva has to vacate the premises because she is unemployed and cannot afford the rent.

“He was the only one who use to provide for me, I don’t have a house on my own, I only get my three children, I don’t know what to do or where to go,” the grieving woman said.

    Dead: Orlando Ramnarine

    The three children four-years-old, two-years-old and eleven-months.

Aronva said her 4-year-old daughter will be starting nursery school next month and now she does not know how she will provide for her and the others.

Aronva’s mother, who used to assist her, died two months ago.

The family decided to go fishing on the private farm, where her father works, on Monday when tragedy struck.

She said when her husband threw the fishing seine in a trench, he collapsed and that’s when she realized the seine connected with a live Guyana Power and Light (GPL) wire hanging from a post.

She immediately called her brother who then removed the live wire using her slippers and vest.

“We does go there plenty times to do fishing, my father does live and work on the farm, he [Orlando] does do that for fun because he like fishing,” Aronva said.

She said her husband was a loving father, a good person and was always friendly to everyone.

“He never bad to nobody, anything I ask for he gives me, the only thing I didn’t get was my own house,” Aronva said.

Meanwhile, according to the family, the owner of the farm said he reported the live wire to GPL three times.

Relatives said after the incident, GPL employees arrived and removed the wire.

Aronva is asking for help for her and her children. Anyone willing to assist the family can contact +592 682 6868.
