The pregnant woman, Clarice Ferrera and her toddler are in a stable condition after the house she was in collapsed during a storm late Friday afternoon in Mahdia, Region 8.

The News Rooms was reliably informed that they are all in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The mother and child were medevac to the GPHC Friday.

A gust of high winds and heavy rainfall surprised the town on Friday at about 16:00hrs and caused damages to a number of houses and buildings, including the Mahdia Primary School.

Less than 24 hours after the freak strom and heavy rainfall the CDC team witnessed the first set of zinc sheets been reinstalled to the roof of the school.

Director General of the CDC, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig said that all efforts are being put in place to ensure the Primary School is up and running for the second week of school starting on Monday.
Roofs of several homes were also whisked away within minutes of the strong winds.
