Eastern Airlines, re-branded from Dynamic Airways, given approval by Gov’t

Minister of State Dawn Hasting-Williams Friday announced that Eastern Airline has received approval by Cabinet to operate flights from Guyana to Miami.

The Minister said, the government is being approached by a number of foreign airlines to operate in Guyana.

She made the announcement at the launch of Air Services Limited’s scheduled flights to eight communities in Region Seven on Friday.

“…we have approved Eastern Airlines to be bringing in their jets to service people from Guyana to Miami,” she stated.

Eastern Airlines was re-branded from Dynamic Airways.

Dynamic Airways in 2017 ended its operation in Guyana after declaring bankruptcy.

This followed legal action against the airline from flights it operated in 2014 for Air India.

In March 2018, the airline announced it had exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and was seeking to restart its charter operations using the Eastern Airlines brand.

The Guyana operations were riddled with complaints of delays and other inefficiencies and passengers were left stranded when the operations folded.

Eastern Airlines had applied since December 2018 to operate in Guyana but was denied for a number of reasons.

Director General for the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, Egbert Field confirmed to the News Room Friday that those issues were resolved.

The Director General noted that while the airline was given approval to operate in Guyana the Aviation Authority was not given formal notice.
