The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) has announced that it summoned popular pastor, gospel singer and radio DJ Kester Deane after he posted a photo of the Wednesday’s deadly Mahaicony accident, circling two Hindu Jhandi flags in proximity to the accident, saying people were being offered up as sacrifices and calling for the church to wake up and take back the country.

Kester D, as he is popularly called, was widely condemned for the post, many seeing it as bigotry.

The chairman of the Ethnic Relations Commission, John Smith, in a statement, said the Commission called in the Christian DJ since his remarks had the potential to damage the fabric of society.

The Commission said it has settled the matter “amicably” with Kester D, and also shared a videotaped apology.

Kester D said he did not intend to cause harm or insult by his post.

The ERC said it was satisfied Kester D had apologised from his heart.
