Indian Gov’t underlines importance of fair, transparent electoral process here

The Government of India has joined other foreign powers in calling for a credible elections process in Guyana and said it is following developments closely.

“As a democracy itself, and a time tested friend of Guyana, India would underline that is important that Guyana’s electoral process are credible, fair and transparent,” said Raveesh Kumar, an official spokesperson for the Government of India.

He added: “It is in the interest of all parties that the elections are so assessed, both by the people of Guyana and the international community.”
