Lusignan man arrested for attempting to throw items over prison fence

A 40-year–old labourer of Lusignan Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara was arrested on Sunday after he was caught attempting to throw a bag containing two cellular phones, 104 grams of suspected cannabis and other items into the Lusignan Prison compound.
Police Headquarters revealed that the observation was made by two prison officers who were patrolling the outer perimeter of the facility at around 06:30hrs.
According to the Police report, the suspect upon seeing the officers dropped the bag and quickly fled the area on a motorcycle.
An alarm was raised and the suspect was apprehended on the Lusignan Embankment and promptly handed over to the Police; he is cooperating fully with investigators, Police Headquarters revealed.
