Reg. 6 recount certified, APNU+AFC refuses to sign

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Sunday certified the recount of votes cast in Region Six and has become the norm, the APNU+AFC refused to sign the Certificates of District Tabulation on the basis that dead and migrated persons allegedly voted.

The recount showed that the PPP gained 43,440 votes as opposed to 43,404 from the first declaration made – an increase of 36 votes.

For the incumbent APNU+AFC, the recount showed 20,399 as opposed to 20,353 from the first declaration – an increase of 46 votes.

The recount of 2,339 ballot boxes is expected to conclude today but the tabulation process will continue on Monday.
