Exam students return to school

Students writing the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), CSEC and CAPE in July-August returned to schools Monday morning amid strict COVID-19 guidelines.

The News Room visited several schools in Georgetown Monday morning and noticed a good turnout of students despite inclement weather. Students were observed wearing their face masks.

The exam students will only be required to attend school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for approximately four hours.

Schools were required to construct a designated waiting area for the students with social distancing markings, however, this was only observed at a few primary schools.

The majority of the schools visited by the News Room in Georgetown were still constructing hand-washing stations while some schools did not check the temperatures of the students as is required by the Ministry of Education.

Schools in Guyana have been closed since March 17.
