Education cash grants of $15,000 from January; uniform allowance to be doubled

President Irfaan Ali on Monday announced a range of measures for the education sector, including restoring the education cash grants to thousands of school children.

The cash grants will move from $10,000 that it was before 2015 to $15,000 from January. The grant is given to every child who attends school in the public system.

Further, the uniform grant will be doubled.

The corporate tax for private education is also being removed.

In addition, $200 million was also set aside to expand the Guyana Learning Channel.
