Dr Marcel Hutson back as Chief Education Officer

Dr Marcel Hutson has returned as Chief Education Officer, Minister of Education Priya Manickchand has confirmed.

Dr Hutson was sent on pre-retirement leave last December in what was seen as his dismissal from the Ministry. That leave expired on September 1, 2020.

But Dr Huston has been hired again as the Chief Education Officer and took up office as of this morning. Manickchand said he Dr Hutson is very skilled and was not sent on leave on any complaints about his performance.

“He was not fired because of his inability to perform but because of petty, spiteful insecurities that should never infect leadership,” Manickchand told the News Room.
