First Lady Arya Ali on Monday met with representatives from the United Nations (UN) Guyana Office to discuss future collaborations aimed at providing support for vulnerable groups, including women and girls, across Guyana.

Those who attended the meeting were UN Resident Coordinator Mikiko Tanaka; UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Laison Officer Adler Bynoe and Spotlight Initiative Programme Coordinator Adele Clarke.

With the UN focused of achieving its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in member states, including Guyana, the First Lady said she was happy to share how some of her projects and initiatives were designed to support the work of UN offices in Guyana.

“Specifically, the Zero Hunger SDG has inspired me to explore the creation of a food bank which will provide support for the less fortunate.

“Additionally, I indicated my interest in negotiating a partnership agreement between orphanages in Guyana and the Private Sector,” the First Lady stated.
