The medical team sent to monitor a spike in COVID-19 cases in Kwebanna, Region One will remain there for the duration of the 14-day lockdown, Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony revealed during a recent COVID-19 update.

Kwebanna, a small village in the Moruca Sub-district has recorded over 60 positive cases and began the lockdown on Sunday last. During the lockdown there should be limited to no movement of villagers and no one will be allowed to leave or enter the village.

“The health team that is station there is continuing to do both sanitisation of residence and also making sure that persons who have tested positive are properly isolated. We have moved a team there for the duration of the lockdown, so they’re going to continue to monitor the activities of the residents in Kwebanna and if they need any additional medical assistance, they would be provided with that,” the Minister said.

The medical team the Minister explained previously worked during lockdowns across the country.
“This is not new to them. They have been doing this for a while now because they were involved in the lockdown at Moruca and all the areas where we had spikes in cases.”

The village’s Toshao Paul Pierre had called for additional support such as food and sanitizing agents from the government during the lockdown.

The Minister assured that whatever support is needed the government will provide to the village. (Extracted and modified from the Department of Public Information)
