Positive COVID-19 cases in St Cuthbert’s Mission has jumped by 48 in the past 24 hours from 130 samples; the Indigenous village now has a total of 145 positive cases to date.

Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony on Wednesday said another doctor has also been added to the team of health professionals in the community.

“We continue to monitor the residents of St Cuthbert’s…we expect, as we continue testing, we will find additional persons test positive and we have put restrictions on movement in and out [of the village],” the Minister said in his daily COVID-19 update.

The indigenous community in Region Four went on a two-week lockdown from November 7 after teachers and healthcare workers tested positive for the disease.

The Minister said there is full cooperation from the village council and the majority of the positive patients are isolated in their homes.

Dr. Anthony said the government has a medical team on site.

“They would monitor the patients to see whether the symptoms move from mild to more moderate or severe and if they detect such movements, then they will move those patients out and bring them out to the hospital.”

The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) has provided hampers, cleaning items and the necessary provisions for a lockdown.

To date, 4,618 COVID-19 cases have been recorded across the country.
