Pre-loaded tablets with educational content were distributed to 49 pupils of the St. Cuthbert’s Nursery School on Tuesday. Both year one and year two pupils received tablets, the Ministry of Education revealed in a statement.

A laptop and mp3 player was also given to the St. Cuthbert’s Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools to assist teachers in completing their work and to enhance learning when schools eventually reopen.

These items were provided by the Government of Guyana and were distributed by the Department of Education – Region Four.

A similar exercise was conducted at Moblissa in Region 10.

Last week, Regional Education Officer for Region Four, Tiffany Harvey had stated that a total of 134 tablets will be distributed to nursery-aged children and 145 tablets to grades four and five students along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway and in Hope Estate on the East Coast of Demerara.

She said that the Department of Education is currently focusing on remote and riverine communities in the region.

This exercise will continue during the remainder of this week.
