Man found floating in river after visiting friend

A 41-year-old man was found floating in the Supenaam Creek, Essequibo Coast on Tuesday, hours after he went missing.

Police in a statement said Mohan Khowsal left his home at about 17:00h on Monday to visit a friend at Supenaam Creek.

During the visit, Khowsal and the friend began drinking and he subsequently left the friend’s residence at about 22:00h. However, he never made it home and as such, a missing person’s report was made.

Police said a team of ranks along with relatives launched a search party. Khowsal’s body was later found in the creek at about 23:50h on Tuesday.

The body was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead.

An examination was done on the body and no marks of violence were seen.

The body was subsequently taken to the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem.
