152 new COVID-19 cases, 16 in ICU

Guyana on Saturday recorded 152 new COVID-19 cases from 1,760 tests, taking the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 12,600.

The majority of new infections were recorded in Region Four with 83 new cases with Region Three coming in second with 30 new cases.

New infections were also recorded in the following Regions: Region Ten – eight new cases; Region Six – 12 new cases; Region One – three new cases; Region Five – three new cases; Region Two – six new cases and Region Seven – seven new cases.

To date, 10,702 persons have recovered. The total number of deaths stands at 279 following the recent deaths of two women on Friday making April the deadliest month for COVID-19 since the pandemic hit these shores.

There are 1,529 patients in home isolation, 74 patients in institutional isolation, and 16 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
