The Queen’s College Old Students’ Association (Guyana) (QC-OSA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 6, 2021, via the Zoom Online Platform.

As part of the business of the AGM, elections were held for the executive body of the association. Mr. Khalil Ali, the Returning Officer on election, declared the following: – President: Ms. Pauline Chase, First Vice-President:  Mr. Harrinand Persaud, Second Vice-President: Mr. Kwabina Griffith, Secretary: Ms. Lisa Foster, Treasurer: Ms. Raquel Bacchus-Nathoo, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer: Ms. Michelle Singh, Public Relations Officer: Christopher Belfield and Sports Advisor – Mr. Shen Fung.

The ordinary members elected and declared at the said AGM are Mr. Sanjeev Datadin, Mr. Devindra Kissoon, Dr. Quacy Grant, Mr. Ian Lee Chung, Mr. Nicholas Chuck-A-Sang and Mr. Ryan Chang

The election of Ms Chase as President of the association proves historic as it marks the election of the first female President of the association in the 176 years of existence of the college.  Ms. Chase, a prominent attorney-at-law attended Queen’s College from 1988-1992 and currently sits as the Secretary of the Bar Association of Guyana. She is the outgoing First Vice-President for the Queen’s College Old Students’ Association Executive Body.

Queen’s College, established as an all-boys school on the 5th August, 1844, became co-ed in 1975 with the enrollment of female students. Past Presidents of the association within somewhat recent history include former Commissioner of Police Mr. Laurie Lewis, DSM, DDS (now deceased), former Principal of the college Mr. Clarence Trotz and alumni Mr. Neville Burke and Mr. Brian Woodroffe.

Outgoing President, Dr. Arron Fraser, thanked the executive and alumni for their support during his tenure and wished the new Executive well in the execution of their duties. (Modified press release)
