The driver of the motor vehicle that plowed into five family members who were sitting on the curb of the Kairuni Public Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway  is reportedly a fireman of Rainbow City, Mackenzie, Linden.

Police identified the man as 39-year-old, Kevin Bizzeth.

The fatal accident took place on Sunday night and claimed the lives of eight-year-old,  Akezie Jerome; her grandmother, Meliena Emmanuel and great-grandmother, Antonia Henry. Bizzeth was reportedly driving a black Toyota 212, bearing the number plate PHH 6628, when he lost control and collided with the left side curb of the road.

According to police reports, a notice of intended prosecution was served on the driver who is presently in custody. A breathalyzer test was carried out on the driver but no alcohol was found in his bloodstream.

The car which slammed into the family was abandoned by the driver and was destroyed by relatives.

The News Room understands that the relatives of those killed, subsequently, destroyed the vehicle involved in the accident.

Further investigations into the fatal accident are in progress.
