Distribution of $225M in cash grants for Essequibo starts Wednesday

The Ministry of Education will Wednesday begin the rollout of the education cash grant and uniform allowance, with each child attending public school being eligible to receive a total of $19,000.

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand told the News Room Tuesday that the total distribution for the Region will amount to about $225 million.

The distribution of the grant comes at a time when the government is contemplating the reopening of schools in September and the funds will help parents prepare their children for when classes resume.

The exact locations where the grants will be distributed have been posted on the Ministry of Education’s Facebook page and has been advertised in the locations where the funds will be handed out.

Across the country, some $3.2 billion will be distributed.
