    The Ministry of Health has reported three more deaths from COVID-19, taking the overall death toll to 597.

    The latest fatalities also mean that for August, 50 persons have died.

    The ministry noted that the three patients died while receiving medical care at an institution.

    The latest fatalities are a 71-year-old man from Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) who died on August 22, a 75-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) who died on August 21 and a 63-year-old woman from Region Three (Essequibo Islands – West Demerara) who died on August 19.

    Meanwhile, 36 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from 394 tests. The new cases take the overall number of confirmed cases to 24, 372. The new cases were recorded in; Region One (one new case), Region Three (six new cases), Region Four (25 new cases), Region Five (two new cases) and Region Seven (two new cases).

    There are 19 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 100 are in institutional isolation and 1, 247 are in home isolation.
