    Avinash Persaud, the reigning and 10-time Guyana Open champion, warmed up for the marque event slated for next month with victory in the Farm Supplies Limited (FARMSUP) Medal Play golf tournament on Saturday last at the Lusignan Golf Course.

    Persaud emerged top of a field of 37 golfers, who continued their build-up to the Guyana Open.

    Playing off a zero handicap, Persaud had a Gross of 67 and Net 67, beating off a challenge from Naresh Sarwan, who had a Gross of 84 and Net 68, playing off a 16 handicap.

    Veteran Mike Mangal came in third with a Gross of 74 and Net 68, playing off a handicap of six.

    Gavin Todd had the Best Net (32) on the front nine, while Sarwan had the Best Net (31) on the back nine. Troy Cadogan was Nearest-to-the-Pin.

    Officials of the FARMSUP, including Managing Director Renger van Dijk, was on hand to witness the action and assist in the presentation of prizes.
