Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has moved to 842 with two new deaths recorded on October 10.

The Ministry of Health reported on Monday that the two deaths –  an 88-year-old man from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and a 63-year-old woman from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) – were both unvaccinated.

This puts October’s death toll at 45. Meanwhile, 52 new infections were recorded from 752 tests, increasing Guyana’s total infections to 33,748.

Those new cases were recorded in Region One (two cases), Region Two (10 cases), Region Three (eight cases), Region Four (21 cases), Region Six (five cases), Region Seven (two cases), and Region 10 (four cases).

Additionally, there are 29 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 145 people in institutional isolation, 3,728 are in home isolation, and three people are in institutional quarantine.

Importantly, a total of 29,004 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
