Paris Timmerman from the Chateau Margot primary school on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) and Deja Datt of the New Guyana Primary school in Georgetown both placed second at this year’s National Grade Assessment (NGSA). They both got 523 marks.

This was announced by the Minister of Education Priya Manickchand on Friday morning at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre in Liliendaal, Georgetown.

This year, 13,821 pupils wrote the NGSA at 503 centres across the country on August 4 and 5. It is important to note, however, that some 14,380 pupils were registered for these examinations.

And this year, the NGSA was conducted and marked entirely by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).
